Hi,

I have been given a assignment where i have to write a shell script by which
1)I need to check the ORATAB file and connect to all the instances.
2)Take the cold backup of the database.

i am through with the 1st part. i am having problems with the second part.
i have two problems
1) how to check wheather the database is open or not.
2) what parameters to pass for talking the cold backup.
