Hi Gurus,

I am having a database running and due to some operations on OS level itself through the Cron jobs, the PMON process of the database got killed, although my instance remained running for quite a while without that, but it crashes as soon as new user logged in. (thats the expected behaviour).
I am just wondering if there is any way I could have just started the pmon process alone.
Because we have some testing going on the test server and I expect this to be repeated few more times in coming days.

Any ideas if and how that can be achieved.

Fix your OS level problem which fix terminate pmon process

I already told this will be fixed, I just need to know if there is anyway to start only the PMON process.

No way... AFAIK.(As far as I know)

except "startup" on SQLPLUS prompt.

lol, ok that test server part story is a hoax, fact is that I was asked this in an interview and I replied the same thing which you said, but Interviewer says there is a way, Sad
