HI,

I'm runnning Oracle10gR2 on RHEL 4. I am having some trouble getting my dbora script to run. I can only get it to start the listener, but I need it to start the database and opmn. Here is the last log from /var/log/boot.log and my current run level configurations for startup processes. By the way I have tried many combinations of run levels and this is the only one that brings up the sever within a few minutes. The rest took hours! Notice the dbora listings. It seems like it starts is and then stops it. I wonder if we can change the order?

You need an "EASY" button from Staples & a free clue.
http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&prodCatType=0&catalogId=10 051&productId=130700&cmArea=SEARCH

How/why do expect anyone to debug a script when you don't post the code; just the resultant log file?

You're On Your Own (YOYO)!

I don't have a clue as to from where you got this "dbora" script.
It does not seem to be a part of any installation I have.

Let me guess you found it or somebody gave it to you. Right?
I suggest you stick to GUI environments & save everyone time.

EXACTLY how is this dumb code supposed to know which database to start?

Did you notice?

This exact script is on our development environment and it is working there. I took it from there so I don't know how it is working on there but not here. Evertyhing has been copied from the dev environment (/etc/oratab, links for runlevels, dbora script, etc...)

Here is the /etc/oratab file:

# This file is used by ORACLE utilities. It is created by root.sh
# and updated by the Database Configuration Assistant when creating
# a database.

# A colon, ':', is used as the field terminator. A new line terminates
# the entry. Lines beginning with a pound sign, '#', are comments.
#
# Entries are of the form:
# $ORACLE_SID:$ORACLE_HOME:<N|Y>:
#
# The first and second fields are the system identifier and home
# directory of the database respectively. The third filed indicates
# to the dbstart utility that the database should , "Y", or should not,
# "N", be brought up at system boot time.
#
# Multiple entries with the same $ORACLE_SID are not allowed.
#
