Hello,

Can anybody give answers to my below questions?

1. How can you Enforce Referential Integrity in snapshots?

2. What are the options available to refresh snapshots?

3. When will the data in the snapshot log be used?

4. What are lex parameters?

5. Advantage of using library over database functions?

Thanks in advance,
Prachi

What you have not got? The questions?
If so, I have asked 5 questions?

And I answered for the first one.

Is that clear now?
If not, pls let me know what you didn't get?

I meant first question (the one you answer) is not clear.
Quote:
1. How can you Enforce Referential Integrity in snapshots?

Does this means:
- can we add a referential integrity to a snapshot?
- referential integrity between 2 snapshots or a snapshot and a table?
- in the latter, which one is the parent and which one the child?
- when enforcing referential integrity during refresh or out of refreshing time?
- ...

Michel

Sir,

Thanks for the reply.
I really do not know more about snapshots. This question I read in some document & not found the answer. So put this on Ora-faq.

What I know is Snapshot is somewhat similar to view which you can use for Remote Databases.
I really don't know that it has Referential Integrity COncept attached with it.

So, I put this request.

Thanks in advance,
Prachi G.

Snapshot is now named "materialized view" and its name is quite explicit.
It is like a view but with result stores in a table of the database.
It is refreshed with the condition you give (periodically, on demand, on commit).

If your book talks about snapshot without speaking of materialized view then it is out of date from 10 years.
Through it away and read Oracle documentation.

Michel

Sir,

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I know it's now called as Materialized views. Sorry I named it wrongly.

If you have time, can you provide me the latest documentation on it OR can you tell me from where will I get it?

Regards,
Prachi G.
