hi friends,

I have created one new database called BALA01.when i tried to connect to ORACLE im getting this error(ORA-01034: ORACLE NOT AVAILABLE).

So guys kindly help me out to solve this problem.

It seems that the database has not been started up. So - start it up!
Quote:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available


Cause: Oracle was not started up. Possible causes include the following:
- The SGA requires more space than was allocated for it.

- The operating-system variable pointing to the instance is improperly defined.


Action: Refer to accompanying messages for possible causes and correct the problem mentioned in the other messages. If Oracle has been initialized, then on some operating systems, verify that Oracle was linked correctly. See the platform specific Oracle documentation.

Hey Balaji

I know there are seniors also helping you .
But Let me also try to help you.

Do required changes in your listener.ora and tnsnames.ora

1.export ORACLE_SID ORACLE_HOME

2.sqlplus /nolog

3.conn sys as sysdba
password

4.startup

check services?
did you pervious drop database from DBCA?
may be entry missing from registry.

On Windows Command prompt.

set oracle_sid=<sid>
net start OracleSerivce<SID>
