Creating physical Standby database [message #250060]

Dear Friend
Is here anybody to help out to create a physical stand by database using datafiles n control file of primary database ?

I know to create physical stand by database we need to copy primary database datafiles n control files. but i am confusing regarding how to use those primary database datafiles n control files to create physical stand by database.

Please help me aybody with step by step instruction. I will be greatful to you people.

but i want to create stand by database on another server not on the same server where the primary server is running. pls help me out i allready have that documentation downloaded from oracle website but confusing regarding how to use those datafiles n cntrol files for physical stand by databse on another new database server which one I am creating as stsnd by databse

Same steps.
No difference except the way you copy the files.

Of course, you have installed Oracle on the other server, don't you?

1:take backup either rman or cold
2:create standby controlfile
3:move all files to other machine
4:edit pfile only if directory structure is not same by using db_file_name_convert and log_file_name_convert parameter.
5:startup database mount
6:restore your backup
7:apply archivelogs.
8:alter database open.
