Hi,
I get the below error messages in the alert log couple of times a week..But the database is up and running fine. Please give me your suggestions.
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-29278: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available
ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_SMTP", line 17
ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_SMTP", line 96
ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_SMTP", line 138
ORA-06512: at line 50
ORA-29278: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available
OS is sun solaris and oracle is 9.2.0.5.

try to telnet you to you mail relay from your database host.
Maybe you need to adjust firewall rules, or you have set something up incorrectly
