I need to change the netmask on my production server running Oracle 9.Do i need to restart my Database after this or will it work without a restart.
Only changing the netmask not the IP,due to change in firewall setting.

if you use netconfig, it's possible it 'stirs' things up that
you changed in your config files (by hand). It should be just
fine changing the NETMASK value in sth. like /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
and then probably execute this like

$ /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart

to make changes effective
