hi,

I am trying to take an export of the full database using sys as sysdba. the script is given below:

-------------------------------------
pre='/myFolder/my_exp'
timestamp=`date '+%d%m%y'`
logfile='_log.log'
dumpfile='_dump.dmp'
file_name=$pre.$timestamp.$dumpfile
log_file=$pre.$timestamp.$logfile
exp sys as sysdba/ file=$file_name log=$log_file FULL=Y ROWS=Y
-------------------------------------

it gives the following error:
LRM-00108: invalid positional parameter value 'as'

EXP-00019: failed to process parameters, type 'EXP HELP=Y' for help
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

oracle version is 9i and os is hp unix...

1/ Don't use sys to export unless you use special features like FGAC. Use a DBA account.
2/ If you still want to use sys enclose it between quotes: 'sys as sysdba'

In addition, your variable in parameter "log=" is not the one you set.

Regards
Michel
