Hi
I have to install oracle 10g in a seperate home from oracle 9i. Now this is a solaris box and it has a few 9i databases running. And the .profile file for oracle user has all 9i specific setting. Before I install oracle 10g in a seperate directory, do I need to have a seperage profile of oracle user right?
So can you help me about how to a two different profiles for the same oracle user - one when the environmetn is 9i other when it is 10g? if you can give some example/link that will also be helpful

Thanks Michel. In my situation, as of now, there is only one home -the oracle 9i home. now I have to install the 10g in the same environment, so I need to "unset" the 9i profile.
So in that I think this will not help-oraenv is used when already there is more than one instance. So can u help on how do I unset the 9i environment and set the new environment for 10g , before doing the 10g install on the server?

Thank you Mike.
I guess I would need another seperate .profile file (this .profile file doesn't set any variables and use this file and crosscheck whether any variable carries old value. once confirm, I can use this file.
I have to carry this 10g install in a critical server, and I am doing it first time..
