Hi All,

I am currently installing 10.2.0.3 patch set on our 10.2.0.2 databases (OS: HPUX 64). There is an instruction on the readme file that says: "If you are using Oracle Recovery Manager catalog, enter the following command: $ rman catalog username/password@alias
rman> upgrade catalog; "

Our databases are currently being backed up using RMAN and we have one catalog database separate from all other databases. I am not sure if I am describing this clearly as I am not very familiar with RMAN's configurations. But what I am only sure about is that this catalog database contains all RMAN configuration and meta data information about all the other databases that RMAN is managing.

We have more than one instance of Oracle 10.2.0.2 running on one Oracle home. My question now is this: Do we need to run the step I mentioned above on each instance of database that is being administered by RMAN or ONLY on the catalog database?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can only run "upgrade catalog;" on the catalog database itself.
