I am a novice with respect to performance tuning

I wanna tune an update statement which updates records of a table containing ard 100 records .The table is not partitioned .

Will using cache optimizer hint help me in tuning the same?

Suggest me some alternative which can increase the performance

The query is run when a patch is applied to the database and it is run more than 1000 times , so even if there is a small performance improvement it will be very useful .
