Hi,

But why you want to remove database. there is not problem if you install both software on some machine.

You can install D2k.
Also go through below link

The link which you have given is invalid. I tried installing d2k on my machine . Just to confirm the oracle_home should be different i guess!!! I selected a different home for d2k. It gave message " There is an existing home already. Choosing a different home would disable all the installed oracle products" . I continued with that. After installation , i was neither able to connect to database from d2k nor was able to connect to the databse directly. It gave me meassge "sp1<lang>.msb missing ". I checked in the forum where it was mentioned that D2K should be installed prior to installing database . But wondering why there should be issues if selecting a different home? Please give me a workaround.

Khushi

Hi,
I checked in the forum where it was mentioned that D2K should be installed prior to installing database

Yes, you have to first install D2k. after that you can install database.

It gave me meassge "sp1<lang>.msb missing

becuase your ORACLE_HOME is change when you install D2K after database.
for that you have to again set ORACLE_HOME env variable.

The link which you have given is invalid.

It is valid. and working for me... don't know what happen with you.

Just to confirm the oracle_home should be different i

Yes, Oracle_home is different.

But wondering why there should be issues if selecting a different home?

Don't know exactly but may be registry value is not set.

Very well explain in above mention link
Note:
If you want to install database, forms 4.5, forms, 6i, forms 9i, forms 10g on a single machine, follow this method

Install 9i/10g Database first.
Install Forms 4.5 on a different home
Check the connectivity
Install Forms 6i on a different home
Check the connectivity
Install Forms 9i on a different home
Check the connectivity
Install Forms 10g on a different home
Check the connectivity

You have to configure both TNSNAMES.ORA file.
one is ORACLE SERVER and other one is D2K forms.
after stop listener wait few second and restart.

Hi,
Khushi,

You have two tnsnames.ora file correct.
you have to modify both tnsnames.ora file to connection and try to connect one of them.

after edit tnsnames.ora file you have to stop listener services and wait few minutes after restart listener services.

NOte : Your problem is because of misconfigure tnsnames.ora file.

If still not connected then delete all tnsnames.ora files and create new one for both application. ( D2K ,Database).

Taj
