HI There

Can anyone help pls. I have installed oracle9i on the server successfully and now I want to create a database. went into cd &ORACLE_HOME/dbs and i got

oracle@hyde:/data10/9i/dbs=> total 60
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle dba 512 Mar 22 10:52 .
drwxr-xr-x 57 oracle dba 1024 Mar 22 10:48 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 12920 Apr 28 2002 initdw.ora
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 8385 Apr 28 2002 init.ora
-rw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 24 Mar 22 10:52 lkORACLE
-rwSr----- 1 oracle dba 1536 Mar 22 10:53 orapwfire
-rw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 2560 Mar 22 10:52 spfilefire.ora

How do i create for example initHR.ora.

Pls help. I'm a trainee.

It appears that you may already have a database installed called FIRE, however this could be remnants of a previous database?

You will find it extremely beneficial to go through Creating a Database Using DBCA.

Hi Thanks for the reply.

I went through the URL which you send but I still don't know how get through my init parameters.There was a database by the name of fire which was supposed to have been deleted.

when i started training my mentor had several databases which i would copy the init parameter and replace with a new name.

But now I can't see all the other databases. what did I do wrong?
