Database is expanding very fast(Space Utilization) [message #224526]

I have two schema each of around 1500 large tables,
on a HDD of 48 GB,
Even though not much new rows are added each day, but space on HDD is reducing very fast.

I have checked that few tables had given high next_extents etc,
and reduce them by re-building them

but still I am not able to recover space,
It was also observed that temp tablespace has taken around 20GB,

Can somebody help me to resolve this as I am novice to server administration

I suppose you mean, FREE space.
I would check whether AUTOEXTEND ON is enabled for datafiles (and tempfiles and undotablespace).
If enabled for tempfiles/undo, disable it.
Also have a look at $ORACLE_BASE where the tracefiles/logfiles are typically generated.

Hi,
Are you check which datafiles increase frequently...

about temp tablespace no need to worry first create new temp tablespace with low size and drop old temp tablespace.

Hi Taj,

I have manually increasing datafile size instead of we can use AUTOEXTEND ON.

Which one is best ??

There no best/worst in this case. It DEPENDS.
