I have a PL/SQL packaged procedure that calls a small java stored procedure (about 20 lines) to dump a file from the database to the operating system via a web based form. The first time the procedure is run it takes 20 to 30 seconds to complete. Subsequent runs take about 1 second. It looks like the time is used in the java stored procedure. Since subsequent run performance is fine, I'm guessing that the java program is getting loaded into memory or something on the 1st execution.
Does this make sense? Is there a way to "pin" a java stored procedure into memory?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
