Hi,

I am trying to install 10g Client on Desktop 9 windows XP )Machine which will be
pointing to 10g Database on Unix box,
The desktop machine has existing 9i Home as C:\oracle\ora90

I am creating a new folder C:\ora10 and trying to install , either Custom option or
Install Client,
It's giving messages like Oracle10g Home cann't be on same folder, it can either be on a higher release
or same release, But the same step worked on some developer's machine and for some it's not coming.

I think due to failures while trying to install Cleint 10g on some machines i created a folder but don't know
where else to search, i deleted from registry and other folders where ever failed attempt of 10g installation
was going on, Any idea what could be the problem.

Thanks

Hi,

I am creating a new folder C:\ora10
During installation process you have to just give a path where installation directory created.( oracle home).you no need to create explicit any directory for before installation.

It's giving messages like Oracle10g Home cann't be on same folder,

Normally you can install more than one oracle home ( different release) on some machine. becuase every installation have separate ORACLE HOME Directory.

Are you check any registry value is exists ? if yes then delete first and try to install again.

regards
Taj
