Hi,
What is your Oracle 8 release number.
Your on Oracle 8 or 8i if your using Oracle 8.1.7 ( 8i) then you can upgrade through DBUA.
1.you have to install oracle 10g.
2.using DBUA upgrade your database with help of documentation.
3.If your using <= 8i ( 8.1.7) then you have to first upgrade lower 8 version to 8i ( 8.1.7) then through DBUA you can upgrade.

regards
Taj
