Hello all,

I have recently installed Oracle 10g as my database server.
Can any one please suggest me how complicated is maintaining the Oracle 10g Server .
Do i need a DBA to really maintain the software because I am a normal oracle user and do not have that great knowledge of Oracle Administration..

Thanks
Regards
Prasad

Hi,

it is depand on many factor.
1.how much your database size.
2.which type of application your using ( front end)
3.your database running 24x7.

You can also take a look 2day dba
and manual for any reference.

regards
Taj

For me, I'm both a SQL Server DBA and Oracle 10g dba. Its apples and oranges in comparison. I'll be honest, Oracle is tough. Keeping up with patches, backups ... does take time.

If your running production data make sure you at least take the time to read and learn. Best bet is to take an Oracle Admin class.

Make sure you have a good list of Internet Forums to consult.
