hello folks,
since I got in connection with ORACLE, I have been wondering about the reason why the SPFILE was made?

Can you guess why dear folks?
Thank you

Hii buddy, even i am new to ORacle, but wht i have understood till now is that SP file is created so that if we have started up the database with the SP file and not from the Pfile then if we make any changes in the dynamic parameters, they can take affect without shutting down and restarting the database.. While if we have started the database with P file, then on changing the parameters, for them to take affect, we have to shutdown and then restart the database which is not always easy to do in realtime applications...

Thanks for replying.
I should say that I do not ignore the role played by a spfile.
And I know what you said.

But why then some parameters can not be changed while the instance is running (see columns issys_modifiable of the view v$parameter) ?
