I've just installed Oracle 8i client on my PC - I can use SQL+ to access all the database instance on the tnsnames.ora file so no problem with my tnsnames.ora working.

I've also just installed Quest Toad for Oracle (vers 8.6.1.0) and on trying to log in I'm getting an ORA-12203 error.

Toad is trying to connect using the DEFAULT_HOME (Oracle Root).

The only change I've made is setting up a new environment variable TNS_ADMIN with a hard-coded reference to the C:\orant\network\ADMIN folder.

Any advice / suggestions on how to clear the Toad error?

Hi,
ORA-12203: TNS:unabel to connect to destination.

1.Are you sure correct tnsnames.ora file is point. i think you have more than one oracle_home or tnsnames.ora files in your system.

2.check firewall setting ON SERVER.

regards
Taj
