I have scheduled backup job that was setup through 10g Grid Control that runs a nightly backup of our production server. The job seems to run ok for about a week and then spits out this error "error writing input to command". I cannot stop this job now. The only way is to bring down the server.

Here is what I'm seeing through EM GC
Execution: prodserver
prodserver Stop Pending

Step: Prebackup prodserver Succeeded Jan 30, 2007 7:00:06 PM EST Jan 30, 2007 7:00:07 PM EST 1
Step: Backup prodserver Jan 30, 2007 7:00:12 PM EST

Try kill -9 <processNumber>
Then make sure no tablespace is in backup mode.
