Always post the OS information.
Always post the exact error message. Verbatim. Explaining the error message or
>> Exception in thread "main" ..... "
offers less useful information.
Did you set ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_HOME in your environment?
Did you set the DISPLAY?

You are doing a telnet session.
>>export DISPLAY=<server IP>:0.0
This will display to the server. Not to your session.
>>10.100.123.39 is my laptop IP from which i telnet to server.
Then you need to use Exceed or a similar X windows/terminal display
in your laptop.

The message
>> Exception in thread "main"
Usually is followed by a series of more errors.
The diagnostic information is available only in that.
Without that, it would take a very lucky guess to identify the problem.

Iget the same error pn Windows XP while running dbca from aTectia client terminal.

Make sure DISPLAY is set properly. (Run Who, note the IP Address, andset the environment DISPLAY as <IP>:0.0 ).

Then starta Xserver window like Exceed Hummingbord.

Wait for at least 5 sec after issuing dbca command.

Good luck.

You needs to SSH to database server with X-11 forwarding enabled.

If/when xclock can be invoked on DB server & it pops window on your PC, then dbca will work for you.
