first check you can login some database where you create users.
if yes then check ur password and userid again.

then after if it is normal user login sys user and alter user password.

sql>alter user "username" identified by "pwd".

hope this helps
Taj.

hi rishi,

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Cause: An invalid username or password was entered in an attempt to log on to Oracle. The username and password must be the same as was specified in a GRANT CONNECT statement. If the username and password are entered together, the format is:
username/password.

Action: Enter a valid username and password combination in the correct format.

hope this helps
Taj.

Is this user, perhaps, locked? Or is its password expired?

Hi rishi,

1.Check ur user default profile ( which profile assign to user)

select profile from dba_users where username in UPPER( '&usrname')

2. Check "password_grace_time" and "password_life_time" in profile.

select resource_name, limit
from dba_profiles
where resource_name in ( 'PASSWORD_GRACE_TIME','PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME')
and profile in UPPER('&profilename')

3.And now assign "Default profile" or increase above both mentioned parameter values.

hope this helps
Taj.

let me know what happen;

hi rishi,

You can create new profile with enough password period. and assign to users.

Any other reason
Don't know. most possibly these problem occur when parameter speciified limit is reached. but in ur case you have default profile.

regards
Taj
