On the subject of new forums: we get the occasional post on Perl DBI, but the OPs never know where to post them.

Perl DBI is an example of a common gateway into Oracle which technically gives you some brand-transparency (ie. easier to plug in other RDBMS's). ODBC and JDBC are (better) examples of the same thing.

I suspect that they all use OCI under the covers, and some of the issues encountered will probably be common with the Pre-Compilers forum.

Perhaps just an amendment to the Forum Description of OCI/Precompilers to include Perl DBI, ODBC, and JDBC (any others?). Or perhaps someone with a better knowlege of it than me can classify it better.

[Edit: PHP is another example]
