I have a problem with the sqldeveloper installation on Ubuntu. I've downloaded sqldeveloper-1.5.4.59.40-1.noarch.rpm.
Then I write:
rpm -Uhv sqldeveloper-1.5.4.59.40-1.noarch.rpm
and I receive the following message:
error: Failed dependencies: /bin/sh is needed by
sqldeveloper-1.5.4.59.40-1.noarch.
What can I do to fix it?

Thanks!

Hi! I did all these you described until the command:
sudo dpkg -i sqldeveloper_1.5.4.59.40-2_all.deb
when I received the following:
(Reading database ... 197337 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking sqldeveloper (from sqldeveloper_1.5.4.59.40-2_all.deb) ...
dpkg-deb: unexpected end of file in between members in sqldeveloper_1.5.4.59.40-2_all.deb
dpkg: error processing sqldeveloper_1.5.4.59.40-2_all.deb (--install):
subprocess dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
sqldeveloper_1.5.4.59.40-2_all.deb

Any help?

I assumed you have already installed alien and used the correct file. I would startover.
Do this first and try again.
May be, you have not installed tar

sudo apt-get install tar
sudo apt-get install alien

And which Ubuntu version are you using?

Edit:
Added install for tar

Seems like a bug with dpkg. I cannot reproduce the case in Ubuntu 810
or
Your rpm file is corrupt.
Clean up the work.
Reboot.
Download rpm again (if you are ftp'ing it, use BIN option).
try again.
