Hi,
I am seeing following statistics in OEM

Aggregate PGA Target 20 MB
Current PGA allocated 55621 KB
Maximum PGA allocated 80323 KB
cache Hit Percetage 54.07%

Here, Current and MAX PGA are exeeding the "Aggregate PGA Target"
Is it happening because sort segments are only allocated an are not de-allocated till database is bounced?

If this is the case what is the actual pupose of "Aggregate PGA Target"?

Please suggest on this.

Thanks in Advance,
Pratap

Your PGA aggregate target is under sized, so Oracle allocates more memory to it. Remember, a target is the preferred value to aim for - not a minimum or maximum value.
