Friends,
We are currently using old version of oracle reports with Oracle 8i database on Windows NT server.
We are currently in a process of upgrading our server from Windows NT to Windows 2003 server.
At the same time we also want to upgrade oracle reports to 10g (latest version).
Please share your knowledge on compatibility of Oracle Reports 10g with Oracle 8i database.

Latest version of Oracle Reports is 10.1.2.0.2. As I understand Oracle 8 Database is no longer supported. Are you restricted to staying with Oracle 8 for some reason? If not I would recommend moving to 9.2.0.6 database at least, even 10.2 would be better. 10.2 has a lot of automatic optimization and management capabilities that 9.2.0.6 doesn't have along with Oracle Grid (OEM) can be used to monitor and administer both as well Oracle provides support for both.

Certify - Certification Matrix: Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition on Microsoft Windows 2003 (x86)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Server Certifications
OS Product Certified With Version Status Addtl. Info. Components Other Install Issue
2003 10gR2 N/A N/A Certified Yes None None None
2003 10g N/A N/A Certified Yes None None None
2003 9.2 N/A N/A Certified Yes None None None
Here is the certification matrix for the database for your platform. As you can see Oracle no longer supports any database version earlier then 9.2. I'm currently looking for documentation for Oracle 10.1.2.0.2 reports using Oracle 8 database, but if they no longer support an 8 database then I'm sure they will not gaurantee compatibility with an 8 database. Do you have a metalink account? If so, this is were you can get this type of information.
