hello
my database is on archive log mode
if i took a backup of the database while it is runing
is it considered as a legitimate backup ?
so in case of crash i can apply the redo logs ?

Yes.

Yes provided you have old archive logs also.

thanks for ur reply
u mean that i put the tablespace in backup mode
then a copy the datafiles on the operating system
right
not just copying datafiles from the operating system while the database is runing
