Hi Everyone,

I am trying to install Oracle 8i on Windows 2000 Server but everytime I am trying to run setup.exe file - the following error comes:

The Java Run Time Enviornment was not found at bin\jrew.exe. hence the Oracle Universal Installaer cannot be run. Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.1.7 or higher and try again.

I have downloaded JRE from Java site, but the error is still same.

Please advise me - ASAP.

take the dump from CD to local harddisk. search for the file symcjit.dll rename it to symcjit.old and now run the setup. There will be no problems. Pls. get back to me whether the problem solved or not.
