I am practising to install the OCS-10g-r1-10.1.2 on Fedora Core 3 Linux. When running the installation by the command "/runInstaller", the system bring the following message:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
[root@host DVD]# ./runInstaller

: Success

The disk is big enough. Checking message is as following:

[root@host DVD]# df /tmp

Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
140690320 20794716 112748904 16% /

I also checked the folder /tmp/OraInstall***, no matter I logged in as "root" or "oracleadmin", the permission of the folder when it is created is 770, which showed "drwxrwx---". It seems we should have the permission on writing in this folder. Is there anything I missed or got configured incorrect? By the way, I install the Fedora Core 3 with the application option "Everything" include the server services and all the other applications provided.

Any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks in advance.

I am sorry I didn't get any solutions for FC3 or FC4. Instead, the problem was dismissed when I worked on RHEL(RedHat Enterprise Linux)_AS3, which I paid $100 on e_Bay.

It has a very simple solution just set the variables before starting the installation

ORACLE_BASE=/oracle
export ORACLE_BASE

LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL

and start the installation.
