I'm a newbie ... been stuck for a couple of days here ...

I installed 10G R2 on my XP machine ... I can run HTMLDB fine ... but my Java app throws an error (below) ... and I also can't tnsping the database (don't know if that is a related issue.)

here is the error ...

Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java

I checked my *.ora files ... things look OK ...
