hi,
i m installing oracle8i in solaris8.before installation i created a group called 'dba' and (oracle)user.then assigned that user(oracle) to group 'dba'.then enter as a user and set the display
display=hostname:0.0
export display
now i inserted cd and attempt to run ./runInstaller
after a run installer the java based universal installer starts opens which is GUI based allowing to choose the options
The i set then ORACLE_HOME as /export/home/oracle/
Then it ask me to submit group name i gave 'dba'.then
i open the new console in it i logged as root theni run the script./export/home/oracle/OraHome1/orainstRoot.sh
then i gave selected enterprise edition 8.1.7.0
then istallation type typical
then set the path for JRE
then i gave database identification
global databse name:demo
oracle sid:demo
finally it ask for 'dictionary for database files'
i gave '/export/home/oracle/OraHome1'
after this GUI screen disappears
what is the reason?
what is the problem?
i hav 128kbps RAM and i set 64kbps as swap memory
so some peoples says it may also cause because of low memory capacity? is it?
now what i want to know is,what the main cause for GUI to disappear?
will the installation run in BG or in foreground?
now how to resove the problem?
can anyone help me to resolve this.
