Hi all,

I am learner to Oracle. Need your help in Every Step of Mine.

I have dump from one of our server which is 64 bit-Windows 2003 Operating System, which i need to import into the testing server for development which is normal 32 bit-Windows 2003. Is it possible to import. As per my knowledge 32 bit can be loaded into 64 bit and vice versa not possible. I tried and got error mesg


IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

But my Dev team manager is saying it is possible to do it.
I think it is not possible to do. Please Help me in this regard.

You have not mentioned your oracle version and it depends on the options you use.
Generally, it should be possible.
But why?
Ideally, the production and test environment should be identical.

This may be a completely different issue.
Seems your export dump was not transferred properly or the dump is corrupted (did anyone edit the file? or anything like that?)
and always FTP the file with BIN option enabled.

Sorry forgot to Mention it,

oracle Version 9.2.0.6

But is it possible to import from 64 bit to 32 bit, thats weird
