When I try to import a file to a 10g database, I have this error message (see at the bottom). Anybody knows what it is ?
I'm using Windows 2000 et a 10g Client.

Thanks,
Phil.

It appears that you have a permissions problem with the user that is running the imp. command. Please check for its permissions (roles/priveleges).

I don't think so because when I'm connect by "sys as sysdba", I have the same problem.

Have you got another idea ?

Thanks,

B.R.

I had the same problem. I was using the imp.exe from the 10.2.0 release (like you did) while the database in which I wanted to import the dump was in fact 10.1.0. So, stick to the imp.exe of 10.1.0 and everthing would be fine.

I am having the same problem but I am trying to import a dmp file exported using Oracle V08.01.07. I am using the import exe from Oracle V10.2.0.1.0 (and it doesn't matter if I try to import the file to an Oracle 8i, Oracle9i or Oracle10g instance)
Please I need to import our client's db to see what is wrong with our application!
Thanks!!

Cynthia

I think there is a bug with the client V10.2 when you try to import on a server V10.1.0
You need to download the V10.1.0 client and it'll be good.

On my XP laptop there is a 9.2 DB and newly a Oracle XE DB.

Then I got this error trying to import into the 9.2. DB.

You must specify the imp of the right DB:

D:\oracle\ora92\bin\imp ...

and it works fine.

I also had this problem. Thanks to some of the comments above, I found the fault. For reasons that are too boring to go into I need to have Oracle 9i and 10 on my laptop.

The reason for my error was that the imp.exe command being used was from v10 rather than v9. When I used teh v9 version, all worked fine. C:\Oracle\Ora92\bin\imp.exe.

May help someone.
