Here's a very useful link for finding information for 9i:

http://www.oracle.com/pls/db92/db92.homepage

I've been trying to find the equivalent page for 8i. We have some old databases lying around, so I need to have 8i docs too. After searching oracle's site which was frustratingly long!! I came up empty. I went to google and I found this site:

http://tahiti.oracle.com/pls/tahiti/tahiti.homepage

Now, whats' up with this 'tahiti' thing? This sort of puts up alarm bells in my head telling me that this convenient 8i search site will soon be gone? Or not officially supported or less supported? Should I be concerned? I'd feel better if link looked like this:

www.oracle.com/pls/db817/db817.homepage

I've bookmarked tahiti eons ago, and it is still there. I recall Oracle has referred to it itself on OTN, so it's no secret.

There's this alternative page:

It's easy: http://otn.oracle.com, click "documentation" and there you are. I don't see the problem.

If you start off from www.oracle.com, you need one additional click ( "technology network" ) to get to the documentation. And it spans database versions from 7.3.4 to 10.2.

You can also use this site's advanced search facilities to search the Oracle manuals. Check it out at http://www.orafaq.com/about/search.htm

Best regards.

Well, the problem is, I need better eye glass perscriptions. I didn't see that tiny link at the top saying 'search' when I got to that page. So much stuff on the 'left panel', I was looking over there.

Anyways, thanks for the info.

Personally I use http://tahiti.oracle.com/ which I find as the best place to start searching the Oracle documentation across multiple versions.

If you use the Firefox browser, you can also download an Oracle Docs search plugin from http://awads.net/wp/2005/08/01/oracle-firefox-search-plugin/
