is peoplesoft is business application? in which enviroment would be used? why immediate mode processing is so critical in peoplesoft ?

Peoplesoft is a ERP(Enterprise Resource Plannig) Vendor.For More info look at this faq.

Where did you hear this "immediate mode processing".I am not getting what it is.
