The Oracle FAQ now has a SQL and PL/SQL Formatter on-line.

Benefits:

Makes code easier to read and maintain
Properly indents code written by non-programmers
Standardize code when multiple developers with different coding styles work together on the same project

Thanks for providing the nice utility. I copied and pasted a function into it, just to test it. It did not recognize the DETERMINISTIC keyword and said it was expecting AS or IS and it added an extra semicolon at the bottom of the function that did not belong there. I expect there may be a few such bugs, but it seems like a nice utility. I have used something similar here:

We've just upgraded the SQL Formatter. Some of the enhancements:

1. It now recognizes the DETERMINISTIC keyword
2. Statements can be formatted as Pro*C or Pro*COBOL code
3. More formatting options

Thanks for the nice improvements. Is there any way to fully integrate it with the existing reply screen? Could you, for example, add a button for "format message", just like you have a button for "spell-check message"?

Unfortunately it would not be possible. The formatter is not open source - we cannot change the source code.
