I've copied a number of schemas from 8.1.7 to 10g. Is there anything I need to run in terms of an upgrade?

Some of the oci calls are different so make sure your application still works. I just did the same thing using export/import from 8.1.6 to 10.1.4

I built the 10g database and then imported my schema into it.
