Hi,

I have installed oracle9iAS. I couldn't find tnsnames.ora, listner.ora and sqlnet.ora file inside the Admin Folder. Then how I can connect iAS to Remote Database?

you need to be specific. Are you looking under the Infrastructure or Middel tier home? Each home should have $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory with those files.

Oracle9iAS version is 9.0.2.0.1
Its a middle-tier.

Hi Andrew,

Oracle9iAS version is 9.0.2.0.1 and OS is Windows2000 Professional. Its a middle-tier. I don't find those files under Admin Folder. Database is installed in another machine. I want to connect iAS to DB.

When I installed both Infrastructure and Middle tiers (different homes), there was no problem with missing Oracle Net files. I can only think that that step didn't execute correctly. Every single click and response you entered into the install wizard is in an installation .log file somewhere under the relevant Oracle home. Take a look in there.

9iAS doesn't always need a tnsnames.ora file (and you shouldn't need listener.ora if there is no listener or database on that machine). As a workaround, you can probably enter host:port:sid instead of the usual connect string.
