I installed oracle 8i client on a windows 98 client. I completed the net8 configuration assistant and the test was successful. However, when i try to use SQL Plus to test whether my machine can login to the DB server, i get the message

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

I need help very badly anyone please help me.

check if u r able to tnsping ur service name from ur system.

Also pls post the slnet.ora and tnsnames.ora file thats u r having on ur client.

Sorry ... file is sqlnet.ora and not slnet.ora
