Hi
I am looking at the following scenario for disaster recovery.
I want to have a cold standby app server on a live windows (database) machine and a cold standby DB on the live Linux (app server) box. These are to be bought up (degraded service) if either of the live machines go down, so we could have app server and db on one machine. I know this is not best practice but for various business reasons (lack of machines, licensing, etc)I have to look into this
Couple of questions:
Can the 10G app server run on windows ? (never known anyone who has tried it).
On the DB I am not sure if the archive logs created on windows can be applied on Linux? if not possible I could go with daily imp/exp (with some loss of data)
We only have two machines (running standard editions of app and DB), does anyone have any other alternatives?
Frank I know this message covers a couple of topics but can it get posted to DR and app server forums?
