Hi there!
I need some HELP! I tried to install Oracle 8.1.6 Client on an Intel Celeron 2.8GHz machine running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2. But the installation doesn't start. When klicking the "Install"-Button nothing happens except that the cursor switches to hourglass-style for a few seconds. Then the programm terminates without doing anything. Does anyone have an idea how to solve that problem????

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Stefan

is this an P4 machine?
copy the oracle installation CD to local drive
rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.somethingelse
Run the installation from the hard drive.

Hi Mahesh!
no, it's not a pentium-IV-machine; it is a celeron. but i followed your instructions anyway and, well, it worked fine!!!! THANKS! so my conclusion is: there is an install-bug not only with the p4-processor but also with the celeron processor!!!! good to know...

bye then!
