Our developers used the 9i client to access the database. Now that we have upgraded to a 10g database, what would be the recommended tool for developers to access the database? I cannot find a client for 10g. We may go with the web interface but it is quite a bit different than the client the developers are used to.

Thanks

is this a development tool you are looking into?
TOAD is widely used.
There is a list of recomendations in http://orafaq.com/tools/index.htm

Anything that the folks are comfortable with.
Oracle has it own set tools , which require a little configuration.
HTMLDB is good.
But i dont think it supports the features developers would like to have.

Thanks for the response.

They mainly used the tool to browse the schemas and look at data. The 9i client was good for them and was included with our existing license. I am hoping there may be a similar tool with the Oracle toolset. They are used to using the DBA studio and the 9iOEM but not sure there is a similar tool for the 10g database.

>> DBA studio and the 9iOEM
Sure they are supported.
I am a bigtime (and strongly biased) fan of OEM.
The Only GUI tool i ever use is OEM.
To make use of all new features, may be u need to switch to OEM website concept (in 10g). I have not really played around with OEM 10g.

I do have this so not sure what else it is looking for.

Bug.
patchset for 10.1.0.4 should be fixing it.
or
Did you try OEM standalone console / DBA studio standalone

Try OEM Client 10g! It is not on the same CD with Database(As was in 9i) but you can get it seperately.
DB control (web based version) is NOT recommended at all.
PLSQL Developer is another tool that is very amazing for me atleast! http://www.allroundautomations.com/
Just a try about your error when trying to connect using 9i Client to 10g Database: Grant "SELECT ANY DICTIONARY" to public and let me know if it works please!
-Best wishes
