Hello, every body!!
Hi, I need help from all of you!!
I try to install oracle 8i client on windows 98, but there is a message " ILEGALL OPERATION" during installation. I think the cd program oracle 8i is broken, so I decide to install Oracle 8i on windows 2000. It success.
Then, I configure oracle 8i on computer client running windows 2000 so it's can connect to oracle database on computer server( the version is Oracle 9i)

Bellow the configuration of file tnsames.ora on computer clientORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.4.30.20)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = ORCL)
)
)

Then, I try to test the connection, I insert my username and password. But the connection doesn't successfull, and give the message like this

The test did not succeed.
ORA-00439: feature not enabled: %s
There may be an error in the fields entered
or the server may not be ready for a connection.
You can check the server and retry, or continue

Can somebody help me about my problem, I have tried among one month but didn,t succeess. Or give me url/ website that discuss about connecting to oracle database

thank's

Best regards

Hendro
