Newbie here folks so please bear with me. I'm trying to configure RMAN in OEM 9.2 to do scheduled backups. I created a test job and submitted it with no errors. I scheduled it to run immediately but it just sits there with the status as "scheduled". I've read the OEM document and getting all my info from chapter 11 (Managing backup and recovery). I've searched online and can't find a possible cause for this apparent hang. It's a test database I set up before I implement on the production box. Any help or ideas on what to look for will be appreciated.

Windows 2000 Pro

Sorry, I did a search by name and date and could not find any OEM log files. Could you tell me what the OEM log file would be called? Would my listenere log file be of any value ?
To configure backups:
1. I logged into Oracle management server, right clicked on my databse and selected backup.
2. Selected "Customize backup strategy".
3. Selected "Entire database".
4. Select "NO" to not include archived logs.
5. Select "Full backup".
6. Select "Online Backup"
7. Select "Keep this backup or copy until 'April 30th, 2005'".
8. Select run "Immediately".
9. Left default name and descriptions.
10. Select "Submit the job now". Click Finish, then OK.
I then got a message saying " The job has been successfully submitted......."
Prior to do I had created a backup configuration with two channels pointing to disk locations with this format:
F:\rman_backup\ADGIS04\b_%u_%p_%c
leaving everything else as default.

Thanks again for your follow up. I did configure the test run once with the catalog option and once with the no catalog option with the appropriate user names and passwords with no problems.
I also configured the repository that enables me to use the OEM /Management server to do these backups. So it seems everything is setup as documented, i just must be missing something or have a wrong parameter somwhere.
I still can't find any meaningful logs that would provide any sort of insight.
It seems like a pretty intuitive tool to use once its configured but can't get past this hanging issue.
I searched my computer for any files with "nohup" in there name, here my result.
