I'm looking for backup/recovery software for MVS Oracle 8.1.7 using OSDI that will also work with UNIX (AIX SP) Oracle databases. We're trying to a common vendor tool to work for both environments if possible. Is RMAN the only option? Is RMAN stable enough for world-class 7x24 backup/recovery situations? Thank you.

We're using RMAN on OS/390 databases with good results. Recovery is greatly simplified. We plan to use Tivoli/RMAN to backup HP databases in the future. I am not aware of a single tool that will backup files residing on different platforms.
