I am finding that more and more of my time is no longer spent on Oracle, SQL, and coding. I am becoming... dare I say it... a Project Manager.

Over the years, this site as been an EXCELLENT source of help, advice, best practices, and even humor. Now that I am faced with more project managment duties, I am entering areas where I have little training and experience.

Does anyone have sites they can recommend for learning and doing Project Managment? We in the software industry have all experienced terrible project managment in the past and I do not want to be yet another terrible project managment. Software System development has MORE than its fair share of that already.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Oracle has some products (part of E-Business Suite 11i) that can be used for project management, including:

* Oracle Project Management
* Oracle Project Collaboration
* Oracle Project Intelligence

Here are a few sites that's worth looking at:

http://www.oracle.com/applications/projects/intro.html - "New in E-Business Suite Projects 11i.10: E-Business Suite Projects 11i.10 includes streamlined project asset capitalization and expanded project management functionality."

http://www.pmi.org/ - The Project Management Institute

I particular - make sure you download the PMBOK: http://www.pmi.org/prod/groups/public/documents/info/PP_PMBOKGuideThirdExcerpts.pdf

Best regards.

Frank
