I recently installed oracle and ran sqlplus 8 on my comp at home. It asks me for a username and password. What do i enter here? i installed the oracle enterprise edition. Did i do something wrong? can i run sql plus on a stand alone computer?
please help

The defaults username/password combinations are:

scott/tiger
system/manager
sys/change_on_install

Use "scott" as username and password as "tiger" and check out.

I tried that and system/manager also. I have installed it on my home comp where there is no network. I guess the password it asks is to connect to another database on the network, but that does not exist. So how do i Run it?

you did install the oracle software.
Did you create the datbase and open the instance?

Yes, i chose typical configuration. is that right?
