Oracle Database Development (Knowledge Engineer II)


 

Location:  U.S. Geological Survey Patuxent Wildlife Research Center (PWRC), Laurel, MD

Introduction: Johnson Controls has an open position to support the development and programming of the Oracle Application in the Bird Banding Laboratory (BBL).  BBL is migrating its records and banding data from a Hewlett Packard Image database system to an Oracle 9i Application.  Individual will work in a team setting with Government and other contractor personnel to complete development and testing of BBL Oracle Application and migrate data from HP Image system to the Oracle 9i application.

 

ResponsibilitiesJohnson Controls has an open position for a Knowledge Engineer II to perform contract work for the USGS at PWRC.  Duties include:

·         Develop and debug the BBL Oracle Application, including forms and reports.  Version 1.0 of the project will be done using Oracle Forms 6.0.8.24.1.  Subsequent versions of the project will be developed in the latest version of Oracle Forms.

·         Perform quality assurance testing of the BBL Oracle Application.

·         Team with HP systems administrator to migrate BBL data from the Hewlett-Packard Image database to the Oracle database.

·         Design and develop forms and reports for all modules of the system. 

·         Work on the development of other modules as assigned.  Provide BBL Management Team with written documentation detailing all tasks performed including descriptive comments in programming code.

·         Provide weekly status reports of assigned tasks.

 

Qualifications:  <SPAN style="LETTER-SPACING: -0.15pt">A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related field is required, as well as 3-5 years experience in Oracle Developer Suite 2000/6i/9i and minimum 1 year of directing and supervising commercial expert systems development projects.  An Oracle Certified Developer with extensive experience in Windows NT/2000/XP is preferred.



Starting Salary: $87,000/yr with full benefits package <SPAN style="LETTER-SPACING: -0.15pt">including competitive compensation, medical, dental, 401(k), and other employee selected benefit options.
